Food Standards Agency Scotland (FSAS) Project

This Season we have five schools taking part in the FSA project these schools are -
  • East End PS, Nov/Dec 2010
  • Tomintoul PS, Feb/Mar/Apr 2011
  • Aberlour PS, Apr/May/Jun 2011
  • St Gerardines, Apr/May/Jun 2011
  • Seafield PS, May/June 2011
The Food Standards Agency Scotland (FSAS) has teamed up with Scottish Rugby to kick start the launch of a new initiative which will encourage thousands of youngsters across the country to increase their knowledge of food hygiene, healthy eating and improve their fitness.

Some 5,000 school children from 160 primary schools across Scotland will take part in this initiative. It comprises a six-week training course for boys and girls in primaries five and six. The course is designed to make children more aware of the benefits of good food hygiene and healthy eating.

We have managed to secure 150 places on the above initiative which 3 local schools have opted into to run alongside their health weeks. West End Primary School in Elgin have already completed the 6 week course with Bishopmill Primary and Cluney Primary due to start soon.
We belive this is a great way for children to get wise about health and food safety while getting involved in sport, especially rugby.

Street Rugby - Coming To A Street Near You!

Street Rugby, part of CashBack for Communities, is a project for which the Scottish Government enlisted the help of Scottish Rugby to deliver free playing and coaching opportunities to young Scots in areas of urban and rural deprivation.

Street Rugby is the development of a non-contact and portable version of rugby that can be packaged up and taken into new communities over a number of weeks.

We are lucky enough to have the chance to offer Street Rugby (free of charge) in the Moray area. These are likely to be during the Easter and summer school holidays. Look out for posters in your area with dates and times for the next sessions.
